4.4Ghz with good cooling and a voltage increase. its a whole new architecture so no surprise it overclocks good.

intel core i7 920 250 bucks able to overclock to 4.0GHz but with double the threads then ur quad core. so i7 920 is more cost effective

AMD Quad Core 3,3 GHz
able to overclock to 4,0GHz 150 bucks
Try to find that on an Intel 800 bucks

2.5 GHZ is enough for video editing photo editing and running 1-2 operating systems via Virtual Machine.

by the way, a cpu doesnt make as big of a difference as you say it does, only few games are cpu heavy such as gta4
